The story group

Group C is WC 2026's "story group": Brazil under the first non-Brazilian head coach ever (Ancelotti), Morocco four years after the Qatar semi-final miracle, Scotland back after 28 years, Haiti for the first time since 1974.

Schedule: - Sat June 13: Brazil vs Morocco - Sun June 14: Haiti vs Scotland - Fri June 19: Scotland vs Morocco - Sat June 20: Brazil vs Haiti - Wed June 24: Brazil vs Scotland + Morocco vs Haiti (parallel)

Brazil: the Ancelotti effect

Carlo Ancelotti — first non-Brazilian Seleção head coach in history, in post since May 2025 — brings his pragmatic Real Madrid school. Vinícius Jr. is the cornerstone on the left, Marquinhos and Casemiro organize from the back. Endrick (Real Madrid) competes with Pedro for the striker spot.

Strength: Ancelotti's knockout experience, Vinícius Jr. Weakness: transition phase not yet fully complete

Morocco: Ouahbi instead of Regragui

Morocco became the first African side to reach a WC semi-final in 2022. Regragui resigned March 2026 after the AFCON win — Ouahbi, previously the U20 World Cup-winning coach, took over three months before kick-off. Hakimi (PSG, Champions League winner 2024/25) remains the key player.

Strength: Hakimi, En-Nesyri (Fenerbahçe), defensive structure Weakness: new-coach effect, minimal prep time

Scotland: 28 years of waiting

Scotland are back at a World Cup for the first time since 1998. Clarke (since 2019) has built a disciplined 3-5-2. Robertson drives from the left, McTominay as set-piece threat. The Tartan Army will be loud in US stadiums.

Strength: defensive discipline, McTominay set pieces Weakness: limited attacking pace

Haiti: the emotional story

Haiti play their first World Cup since 1974. Migné (France) qualified the team without ever setting foot in Haiti — home matches were held in Curaçao due to the conflict. Pure underdog story.

Strength: hope, underdog energy Weakness: lowest FIFA rank in Group C

The three scenarios

Scenario 1 (~52%): Brazil & Morocco through

Both favourites advance. Brazil group winner, Morocco runner-up. Scotland and Haiti out.

Scenario 2 (~28%): Scotland upset

Scotland takes points off Morocco and either Brazil or stays level with Morocco. R32 via "best third".

Scenario 3 (~20%): Morocco wins vs Brazil

Morocco beats Brazil (as once happened in qualifying against Spain). Group-winner possible, table totally open.

Tipper strategy

Market consensus: Brazil 78% group winner, Morocco 14%. Tipping the Brazil-Morocco match (June 13) as a Morocco win cashes the tendency sensation of the group stage if it lands.

Scotland matches are often the under-tipped matches of the group. If Scotland hold a 1-0 or 0-0 vs Morocco (Clarke's style allows it), you bank bonus points.

FAQ

Who is the Group C favourite?

Brazil — market consensus ~78% on group win. But Morocco showed in 2022 they can trouble anyone.

When is Brazil vs Morocco?

June 13, 2026. The marquee match of Group C, often the decisive one for the table.

Can Scotland advance?

Realistically: third place with a "best third" shot. A direct R32 spot would be a sensation, but Scotland last played a WC in 1998 — confidence is high.

Who is Haiti's star?

Duckens Nazon and Frantzdy Pierrot are the established strikers. But Haiti is more team than star side.
